Communications Officer, Greenpeace - Dublin

Description:
Provide clear, concise and creative communications on EU environmental issues, aimed at international EU correspondents and decision-makers. Prepare, write and disseminate press releases, media briefings and other relevant communications material. Coordinate and promote press conferences, interviews and briefings, and advise Greenpeace EU staff on communications. Establish, develop and maintain good relations with the EU media community. Act as a media spokesperson and Greenpeace representative. Maintain contacts with Greenpeace national offices and Greenpeace International to help ensure coordination for EU-related communications output across the global organisation. With the Communications Manager, develop and implement innovative and competent communications strategies on EU political and legislative issues. Contribute to media training for Greenpeace EU staff and, where relevant, national Greenpeace offices. Manage and update the Greenpeace EU website and social media accounts. Requirements:

  • You have strong communication skills gained from experience in journalism, campaigning or public relations,.
  • A demonstrable interest in politics and the environment, and the drive to cut through EU jargon and spin to expose the facts.
  • Excellent English is a must and good knowledge of French and other EU languages a distinct advantage.
  • Minimum three years experience as a journalist or communications/PR officer.
  • Proven experience in writing and editing.
  • Knowledge of EU institutions and the EU decision-making process.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Demonstrable commitment to environmental protection.
  • Academic qualification.
  • Excellent interpersonal/networking skills.
  • Flawless English is a must and good knowledge of French and other EU languages a distinct advantage.
  • Experience with web design and photo editing software, and IT an advantage.
